My nearly four years as a member of the EagleRidge family have been some of the most challenging and rewarding of my life. When our children were attending Riverside Elementary School and benefitting from the care, guidance and love of the best teachers in the world, my wife Marie and I agreed to work to support the teachers and programs in our local schools. That led us to ten years of involvement in the KU DECA program where we quickly came to realize that all students are talented and gifted. Our challenge is to provide a learning environment which challenges and empowers students guided by amazing staff to achieve their potential.
EagleRidge High School is the product of the recognition of the City School District that we are not all the same and that many of us seek and thrive in an environment “where everyone knows your name.” Our challenges included not being able to occupy our building on the first day of school in September 2007. Tiffany Davis’(now Ms. Slaughter) reaction was: “find us a place to sit, I can teach kids anywhere.” Ms. Slaughter’s message was that a “school” is not a building, it is people: students; parents; teachers and support staff; all working together in an educational community rich with personal relationships, character and respect which inspires our students to achieve their dreams.
My granddaughter is the fifth generation of our family to live in Klamath Falls. I intend to do all that I can do to ensure that Hali and her sibling (on the way) have the opportunity to thrive in the best educational program in the world.
